The team does not have a real rider for the overall classification. For the Cofidis Women Team, it is much more about chasing stages and possibly causing a big surprise. The undulating stages in particular should suit the team's riders. Coming out of a group, the team could well ensure a stage win in the most important race of the year.
The experienced Slovenian Eugenia Bujak will mainly be guiding the young riders. The 35-year-old has ten years of professional experience under her belt. Bujak can set the tone in the moderately difficult stages as well as provide valuable assistance in the high mountain sections.
Another important role in the Cofidis line-up is played by the young Frenchwoman Victoire Berteau. The 24-year-old is regarded as a great talent for tough one-day races and high-profile stages. Berteau could cause surprises at the Tour, especially in the hilly sections, and possibly seek her chance in breakaway groups.
For the flat stages and possible bunch sprints, Cofidis is relying on the qualities of French rider Valentine Fortin and Danish rider Amalie Dideriksen. The 29-year-old Dane, a former world champion, has an explosive attack and plenty of experience in hectic sprint finals. Both riders will be trying to assert themselves against the top sprinters of the competition in the Tour and claim stage victories.
