Pass profile: Switzerland: Albula Pass
The Albula is a jewel: a narrow little road with little traffic that first leads through dark spruce forests and past the cliffs of the Albula Gorge.
The Tour de Suisse peloton rarely climbs over the Albula Pass, most recently in 2006 over the more difficult north-west side. This cannot be due to the beauty of the pass. The Albula (2,312 m) is a jewel: a narrow, low-traffic road that first leads through dark spruce forests and past the cliffs of the Albula Gorge, later climbing through light larch forests that turn golden in autumn.
