The Pass dal Fuorn, as it is called in Rhaeto-Romanic, owes its name to the smelting furnaces that were used to produce iron on the Graubünden side until the late Middle Ages. Its remote location may be the reason why the Tour de Suisse has never passed it - otherwise the pass would be one of the ten highest on the tour. However, its altitude is only felt by cyclists who set off from the east, from the Vinschgau Valley. Then there are 1,300 metres of altitude to climb, spread over 27 kilometres. Kilometres to enjoy.
Possible combinations:
Tour 1 (126 kilometres, 2,570 metres in altitude): medium-difficult tour with a tough finish.
Tour 2 (133 kilometres, 3,680 vertical metres): tough lap over four passes.
