Strade Bianche is the rising star of one-day races and is now almost a classic - although the race was only held for the first time in 2007. However, the white roads in Tuscany have their very own flair that no other competition in cycling can offer.
In 2024, the race provided some very special photos, as the numerous gravel sections were soaked by water due to the rain that had fallen in the meantime. The mud was stirred up from the ground and splashed in the riders' faces. Pictures that are normally only seen in the rain at Paris-Roubaix.
Tadej Pogacar dominated the headlines with a monster solo of more than 80 kilometres that left the competition in the dust. It was the two-time Tour de France winner's second victory at Strade Bianche, having already entered his name on the list of winners in 2022.
The women's race was much more exciting. Lotte Kopecky triumphed for the second time since 2022 in Siena. However, the reigning road world champion was only able to pull away from her companion Elisa Longo Borghini on the steep final ramp at the finish.
