The PLACE-TO-BE of this TOUR edition is a household name in Austria's cycling scene. The Cherry Blossom Race, one of the oldest road races in Austria, and the City Centre Criterium are the event highlights. The Racing bike region Wels an insider tip among the nearby training and holiday destinations for racing cyclists.
The enthusiasm for road cycling in the region is definitely great and numerous hobby and club cyclists welcome guests and holidaymakers on their rides. You quickly become part of a local group and enjoy rides together with cappuccino breaks and marvellous views. After just a few kilometres, you are no longer a stranger. Most of the rides are on minor roads with little traffic and have been planned with great attention to detail by the racing bike professionals from Team Felbermayr Simplon and the local racing cyclists.
Over small roads, over hills, the mountains always in view, flat, hilly or mountainous. Short laps, long rides in all directions: To the Danube, to the Innviertel, to Lake Attersee in the Limestone Alps - anything is possible. After each round, you roll back, from the countryside into the city, into Wels. In addition to the varied choice of tours, the Wels racing bike region stands out thanks to the extensive range of offers in the city. The city scores points here with its gastronomic offerings, shopping opportunities, culture and events. Historic squares and streets are meeting points for strolling and shopping.
The race track is also perfect for amateur athletes and offers marvellous views to the north over the Danube valley into the Mühlviertel and from west to east over the Alpine foothills and the Alpine chain.
