If you want to save a few grams of weight on your favourite racing bike and spice up the look at the same time, a carbon saddle from Riesel-Design could be an option - as long as the 280 euros for the tuning part are within your budget. The Dresden-based company calls all of its saddles "chairs", this one "chair contour lines" due to its design. But beware, the 95 gramme saddle can carry a maximum of 90 kilograms - saddle bag included.
The saddle is available in widths of 130 and 145 millimetres. We tried out the wider version, which is slightly heavier at 105 grams and provides optimum support with a sit bone distance of up to ten centimetres thanks to the steeply sloping sides. As the saddle cover is quite stiff, it offers little cushioning. For our test rider with a sit bone distance of 11 centimetres, the premium saddle still fitted well, but he found it a little slippery due to its smooth surface. The saddle frame (oval stays with a diameter of 7 x 9.2 millimetres) allows a generous 9 centimetres of adjustment.
