"Cyrano" is the name of the first seatpost from saddle manufacturer Fizik. The special feature of the aluminium post, which weighs a good 230 grams, is its clever clamping mechanism, which can clamp saddle racks with round and high-oval rails up to ten millimetres high. In practice, changing the saddle works very well with round tube frames, whereas carbon frames with high oval stays are more difficult to thread. But it works without having to modify the clamping system. Available in four diameters and three lengths, the shiny black support is very well made. Tip: Lubricate the contact surfaces of the clamp and seat post, as the mechanism tends to creak when dry.
On the occasion of the Tour de France, the Italians are also offering the top saddles "Aliante", "Arione" and "Antares" in limited editions and in colours to match various team designs, including handlebar tape at prices between 135 euros and 190 euros.
