Saddle Brooks Cambium C17
For almost 150 years, the British brand Brooks has been synonymous with saddles made of thick cowhide. The new Cambium C17 breaks with this tradition.

Long-distance and frequent riders in particular swear by their unrivalled comfort, even putting up with long break-in periods and high maintenance requirements. With the new Cambium C17, however, Brooks fans have to rethink: it is the first saddle in the company's history to do without leather. Its cover consists of vulcanised natural rubber stretched over an aluminium frame and covered with a relatively coarsely structured cotton fabric. Brooks has good arguments for breaking with company tradition: The natural elasticity of the rubber promises good adaptability to the rider's anatomy, the textile threads guarantee abrasion resistance and prevent the saddle from wearing out and sagging. The C17 is also unimpressed by rain. After two months of practice on the crosser and the road bike, we can say that the concept works. The fit and comfort are excellent from the very first metre. The relatively wide seat supports a more upright riding position and suits riders with a wider sit bone distance. With thin Lycra trousers, the rough surface could lead to fabric abrasion. One disadvantage is the weight of 417 grams - although 200 grams more than a lightweight saddle hardly matters if this is accompanied by a noticeable increase in comfort.
