Rose Pro SL-300 Lady (1,399 euros)
Rose's tried and tested aluminium model is suitable for an inexpensive but ambitious entry into cycling; with its alignment it is also suitable for the first races.

The handling is agile, the riding position sporty but not extreme. The compact handlebars and a women's saddle are the only women-specific features. The most expensive of the three variants is shown here, starting at 899 euros.

PLUS outstanding price-performance ratio, relatively light for the price, sporty but comfortable saddle, comfortable top handlebar, angle-adjustable stem

MINUS only available through direct sales, handlebar bend in lower link a little tight

Conclusion Annina: I wouldn't have thought that such an inexpensive bike could be so much fun. It's very agile.

Conclusion Manuela: Buy it, sit on it, have fun - you really can't go wrong with this bike.

Rating in the TOUR test lab: overall grade 1.9
