Test rider Ines: "The bike is a bit sluggish uphill, especially the heavy wheels are noticeable in comparison. But it's super stable downhill."

Stevens offers its extensive modular system for the higher-end models, while the entry-level range includes the Impala, a dedicated women's racing bike in small frame sizes and two fixed equipment variants. The comparatively simple aluminium frame set is heavy but extremely stable. The wheels and other components are also of a rather robust quality, which gives the bike an overall calm, almost stoic riding behaviour. The weight of nine kilos, like the entire equipment, is still acceptable for the price. The triple crankset is ideal for beginners, but all the testers criticised the thin, hard aluminium handlebars, which are also a poor match for the brake levers.

PLUS stable frame set with smooth riding behaviour; triple drive; comfortable saddle
MINUS High overall weight, therefore somewhat cumbersome; little comfort on the handlebars; few sizes

*The frame set accounts for 40 % of the overall grade, the equipment for 60 %. The grades are calculated with all decimal places up to the final grade; however, for the sake of clarity, all grades are given with rounded decimal places.
**Manufacturer's specification, test size bold.
***Stack/reach: projected vertical/horizontal measurement from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the head tube; STR (stack to reach): 1.45-1.55 means a sporty riding position, below that a racing position, above that a comfortable position.
