Successful geometry, extremely stable ride, well equipped, mountain-ready gearing

The Impala paintwork with two shades of red and white can also appeal to small men - the bike is not immediately recognisable as a women's model. The geometric compromise that is unavoidable with frames of this size has been successful: the head angle and fork pre-bend are adjusted so that the bike is the only one of the three small test bikes to offer legroom up to around shoe size 40. The steep seat angle is mitigated somewhat by the seat post, which moves the saddle backwards. As is often the case with small frames, the chassis is excessively stiff. Presumably not intentional, but not a disadvantage either, as the slim seatpost provides a certain amount of suspension comfort. The equipment with the 105 groupset as a triple version, Easton wheels and good add-on parts from the Stevens range is appropriate for the price.
