The bicycle manufacturer Rose has announced that bicycle prices will increase by around ten per cent. Anyone considering ordering a bike from the Bocholt-based mail-order company can still secure bikes at the old price until 28 March.

The Rose management had high hopes that they would not have to raise prices again. But the reality is different. The high freight costs and the rarity of urgently needed raw materials are the reason for this at Rose, as with many other manufacturers in the bicycle industry, also raise bicycle prices in 2022. Although the existing backlog was eliminated by increasing the storage space and increasing the order lead time, the problems mentioned above still exist. And so the price increase affects bikes in all segments. The price increase will be implemented from 28 March, all bikes ordered before then will be available at the old price. Thorsten Heckrath-Rose, Managing Director of Rose, talks about the procurement of bike components:

"Compared to last year, nothing has changed in the procurement of our bike components. On the contrary: the prices of almost all suppliers have continued to rise, and transport to us is also expensive"

Desire for more independence from suppliers

The price carousel can only be stopped if there is less dependency on suppliers from other continents. And although customers are now used to long delivery times, the bicycle industry agrees that there must be another way.

Based on this desire and this hope, Rose Bikes exchanges ideas about the mobility of the future with other manufacturers, dealers and companies in the industry in various working groups and committees. Yes, it even goes beyond that: the Future mobility should be actively shaped, solutions are being sought to optimise the entire supply chain process. The aim is also to meet customer demand.
