We already tested the small AS 2 mini compressor in Tour issue 9-2024, and now we have also been able to test the Pro version including digital display extensively in practical use with narrow and wide tyres. It should cost 99 euros.

Not all test pumps were able to in the big comparison test of four mobile and four larger appliances, which are designed more for stationary use. Some of them became so hot after a short period of use of around one minute that they could no longer be handled without gloves, or they did not reach the maximum pressure specified by the manufacturer, regardless of whether they were small or large.

Despite its low battery capacity and slight weaknesses under the highest pressure, the sister pump of our current test candidate performed quite well, firstly because its valve hose extension allowed it to score points for handling and, unlike other competitor products, it did not heat up like a hot potato when pumping.

Functional display of the Cycplus AS2 Pro

The display makes the difference in the Pro version, which weighs just over 140 grams. Although it measures just 18 x 12 millimetres, it informs the user of all important data, such as maximum pressure in bar (it managed 8.1 bar) and the battery status as a bar graph. This significantly improves the already simple handling of the compact pump, especially as the pressure display provides precise information about the current pressure in the tyre and the battery indicator also accurately shows the remaining capacity.

In our practical test, the AS2 Pro managed to inflate a total of four 30-622 tyres to five bar, qualifying it as an enduring little puncture helper. The mini compressor needs exactly 80 seconds to inflate each tyre to this level, while it only needs 37 seconds for an emergency inflation of three bar. Incidentally, the Cycplus heats up to a measured 45 degrees and you can warm your hands at the same time, which is very pleasant during the cold season.
