The Muc-Off Airmach Electric Mini Inflator Pro looks like a typical mini compressor, but offers special features such as a black silicone cover and an unusual operating concept. In terms of performance, it is clearly one of the best devices in the test.

Mini compressor test: seven models compared

The current comparison pits seven models from Cycplus, Dynamic, Muc-Off, NG Sports, Silca, Topeak and Trek against each other. The price range extends from 60 to 180 euros and is therefore significantly higher than classic puncture repairers such as mini pumps or CO2 cartridges. In practice, however, it quickly becomes apparent that the electric mini-compressors work noticeably faster and much more conveniently than any hand pump, but take up more space during transport than a cartridge plus adapter. When it comes to tubeless set-up, the small devices reach their limits, as their air blast performance is usually not sufficient to reliably set the tyre bead.

Performance in the pressure test

In the practical test, all pumps had to bring a 30-millimetre road bike tyre up to four bar. The differences were clear: the large Silca completed the task in just 30 seconds, while the AirRush from Trek took 73 seconds. When testing the maximum pressure, we did not use the absolute limit in order to protect the material and only allowed all models to work up to seven bar. The Muc-Off is one of the fastest devices in this discipline. Its housing hardly heats up at all, remains easy to control and can be handled safely even without gloves.

  • Equipment (10 %): 2,5
  • TOUR grade (100 %): 2,2

That is our conclusion

The Muc-Off AirMach delivers one of the strongest performances in the test. It manages five tyres on a single charge and only needs 55 seconds to reach four bar. It also impresses with maximum pressure: the small power cube reaches seven bar in 140 seconds - only the significantly larger Silca is faster. Muc-Off also sets standards when it comes to charging: the battery is fully regenerated after around 30 minutes. Operation differs slightly from the standard, as the start button is on the side. Less successful is the display position, which points towards the valve when pumping and is therefore difficult to see. In short: powerful, with ergonomic weaknesses.
