Cawacawa mini pump from NG Sports: Compact and surprisingly powerful in the test

The manufacturer's specifications sound ambitious: 8.3 bar maximum pressure, five fillings per battery charge and 32 seconds for a 700×25C tyre to 5 bar. There is also an auto-stop, LED display and overheating protection. The pump works with Presta and Schrader valves and is supplied with a wide range of accessories. The Cawacawa is therefore aimed at anyone who wants as little ballast as possible but maximum flexibility when travelling.

In the practical test

In the test, the pump proved to be compact and well made. It weighs 147 grams with the hose and the display is small but functional. It is operated using three buttons and the display shows the instantaneous pressure, target value and battery status. The compressor actually manages the specified 8.3 bar - a value that not all competitors achieve. However, the device gets very hot and is almost impossible to touch without a silicone cover.

In terms of pumping performance, the Cawacawa is slightly below average, but remains suitable for everyday use. The compact compressor pumped a 30 mm Pirelli tyre to 4 bar three times in 52 seconds each time. On the fourth attempt, it switched off after 35 seconds at 3 bar - battery empty. On the plus side, the charging time of around 30 minutes is short, as stated by the manufacturer, which increases the spontaneous readiness for use when travelling.

All in all, NG Sports delivers an amazingly powerful mini-pump at a low price. It is light, quick to charge and can achieve high pressures, but shows thermal weaknesses under continuous load. For occasional use on the road, it is nevertheless one of the most interesting budget options on the market.

Our conclusion

The NG Sports Cawacawa is a lightweight, affordable and surprisingly powerful mini pump that impresses in everyday use. It charges quickly, delivers solid values and reaches the specified maximum pressure. However, it gets very hot under continuous load. For touring riders looking for a compact emergency solution, it is nevertheless a strong offer in the 60-euro class.
