New products 2020: Scott Addict RC UltimatePhoto: Scott
Scott has had the Scott Addict RC in its programme as a model for racers and sporty riders since 2008. The latest version now presented is a sophisticated, cutting-edge racing bike.

Competition machine and professional tool: The new Scott Addict RC is also the team bike of the Mitchelton-Scott team and is therefore clearly aimed at very sporty and race-orientated racing cyclists. According to the manufacturer, the new model combines excellent aerodynamics, agile riding characteristics and low weight. One detail that documents the design effort is the integrated handlebar-stem unit, which makes it possible for the first time to route the Bowden cables of mechanical components as well as the cables of electronic circuits completely internally and through the headset - without racing mechanics and specialist dealers freaking out during assembly. According to Scott, they have succeeded in designing the stem in such a way that the stiffness in the steering head does not suffer despite the complex inner workings. Both the one-piece handlebar-stem combination and the stem and handlebar set offer an integrated mount for fitting a computer holder.

Interesting details on the new Scott Addict RC

According to Scott, the new frame of the Addict is almost 15 percent more torsionally rigid than the previous model thanks to a further optimised allocation plan for the high-strength carbon fibres. In addition to its inner values, it also boasts a wealth of interesting details. One example of this is the smart seatpost clamp, which securely fixes the seatpost at an almost unbelievable twelve grams.

In the top version RC Ultimate, the bike is equipped with the new SRAM Red eTap AXS, which changes gears electrically and radio-controlled. Despite disc brakes, the bike weighs just 6.9 kilos according to Scott. During a first test ride, the shiny black painted racer with the chrome-coloured lettering presented itself as a wonderfully light-footed, agile bike that does not stretch the rider excessively between the handlebars and saddle despite its clearly sporty design; the Addict made you want to go for a longer ride, which was also helped by the tyres during the test ride: Mounted was the prototype of a new tubeless tyre from Schwalbe, which is set to be at the top of the tyre range in the future; the 28-millimetre tyre impressed with its silky-smooth, cushioned smoothness. However, the top version of the Addict RC Ultimate will be a rather exclusive pleasure, with a price tag of 12500 euros. Less expensive models, whose frames still use high-strength carbon fibres, are expected to start at around 4000 euros.
