The undisputed favourite of French cycling fans Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling) is riding a tuned version of the BMC Teammachine R. The so-called Masterpiece version (abbreviation: Mpc) is designed to save weight compared to the conventional frame set. According to TOUR information, BMC has the chassis manufactured by a German carbon specialist.

In addition to a higher and therefore lighter carbon fibre quality, the six-time Tour stage winner's workhorse does not need to be painted. Only a thin layer of clear varnish protects the elegant frame set from stone chips and the like. Team-mate Marc Hirschi also used the Teammachine R Mpc on the way to Le Mont-Dore (10th stage).
