There will be one more team at the start of the Tour de France this year. The world cycling organisation UCI published a statement on Monday afternoon announcing that a corresponding rule change was passed. This allows the organisers of the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a España to award three wildcards instead of just two as before. The rest of the peloton will be made up of the 18 automatically qualified World Teams and the two best Pro Teams of 2024. The invitations for the tour were issued to the Swiss team Tudor, the Norwegians from Uno-X Mobility and the French team TotalEnergies.
