Nach seiner Schulter-OP fehlt Primoz Roglic bei der Tour de France im kommenden Jahr.
Olympic champion Primoz Roglic will not be competing in next year's Tour de France.

The Slovenian professional cyclist, who in 2020 dramatically lost what he thought was a certain overall Tour victory to compatriot Tadej Pogacar, will instead tackle the Giro d'Italia. This was announced at the Jumbo-Visma team presentation in Amsterdam. The Dutch team is relying on the Tour of France The Danish last year's winner Jonas Vingegaard.

Roglic thwarted by crashes at the Tour de France

Roglic, who recently underwent shoulder surgery, had recently shown interest in competing in the Tour again. The three-time Vuelta champion has so far been unlucky in the world's biggest cycling race. In addition to his missed victory in 2020, when he lost the yellow jersey on the penultimate day of the individual time trial, he has had to retire due to crash injuries in each of the past two years.

At the Giro d'Italia Roglic will face the Belgian world champion and young star Remco Evenepoel. German hopeful Lennard Kämna also wants to tackle the overall classification in the Tour of Italy starting on 6 May. The 26-year-old enjoys full freedom in the Bora-Hansgrohe team, but the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov is set to be captain.
