During the Tour of France, we will be presenting a team bike from the peloton for each stage. Today: The Giant TCR Advanced of John Degenkolb, Team Giant-Alpecin.

After a serious training accident in the spring, John Degenkolb's season was almost over and he still has problems with the injuries to his hand. The 27-year-old from Frankfurt had just risen to the top of the cycling Olympics: Last year, he won both the Milan-San Remo and Paris Roubaix monuments and would have gone into the spring classics as the favourite. And he would certainly have been in with a chance of winning a stage at the Tour de France. This makes his fourth place today all the better and at the moment he will be happy that he can ride the Tour to the end.

Degenkolb will start for the Giant works team with co-sponsor Alpecin. We present his racer, a Giant TCR Advanced, in our photo gallery:

Although the Giant-Alpecin riders could also opt for the aero speedster Propel, Degenkolb feels more comfortable on the classic TCR. The equipment of the Shimano-sponsored team comes mainly from the Japanese giant: Dura-Ace Di2 gears, Dura-Ace wheels and pedals as well as components from the Shimano subsidiary brand Pro. Otherwise, little tuning, little tinkering.
