For the first time, the fourth edition of the Tour de France Femmes will go up Mont Ventoux - the legendary summit in Provence that has made cycling history. It will be the highlight of the upcoming edition of the women's professional race (an overview of the 2026 route can be found here). On Thursday, 6 August 2026, amateur cyclists (women and men) can compete in an amateur race on the super-hard climb. The L'Étape du Tour de France Femmes, as the event is officially called, will then lead over 120 kilometres to the 1910-metre-high summit. For the last 70 kilometres, the route follows the route that the world's best female cyclists will take one day later (7 August 2026) on the queen stage of the upcoming Women's Tour. The start for the amateur cyclists will be in Vaison-la-Romaine. A total of around 3000 metres in altitude have to be mastered. The finish is at the end of the ascent from Bédoin to Mont Ventoux. It is 15.7 kilometres uphill with an average gradient of 8.8 percent.
It's the second edition of the Tour de France Femmes amateur race. The premiere took place in 2025 on a mountain stage starting in Chambéry and finishing on the Col de la Madeleine. According to the organisers, there were 7,000 participants at the start back then. The professional women rode the same route on the same day.
Information about the event and registration for the next edition on 6 August 2026 is already underway on the website: www.letourfemmes.fr/en/etape-du-tour-de-france-femmes-avec-zwift
The traditional L'Étape du Tour for men will lead to Alpe d'Huez next year with around 170 kilometres and 5400 metres of altitude. You can find our report on this event here here.
