The Tour de France bids farewell to Santini: Italian clothing manufacturer Castelli will become the official partner of all Amaury Sport Organisation cycling races from 2027. The agreement covers 27 events, including the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. In future, Castelli will produce all the leader’s jerseys for these races, as well as the jerseys for amateur events such as the Etape du Tour and the Paris–Roubaix and Liège–Bastogne–Liège Challenges, which attract over 80,000 participants annually.

Castelli unveils new jerseys

The launch of the new Tour de France jerseys will take place on 22 October in Paris. The designs for the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will be unveiled there. Further jerseys for other races, as well as additional clothing collections, are set to be unveiled at a later date.

A return after three decades

Castelli produced the Tour de France leader’s jerseys between 1989 and 1994. During this period, riders such as Greg LeMond and Miguel Indurain wore Castelli’s yellow jersey. Steve Smith, Global Brand Manager at Castelli, describes the partnership as a significant moment in the company’s 150-year history. In addition to the Tour de France, Castelli also supplies kit for Paris–Nice, the Tour Auvergne–Rhône-Alpes and the Vuelta a España. In cycling, no jersey is more prestigious than the Tour de France jersey. The Yellow Jersey has an extremely high media value due to its extensive global media coverage. Consequently, A.S.O. is likely to have generated more revenue than ever before from the sale of the complete package covering 27 races.

Castelli is a sponsor of all A.S.O. races

Castelli’s return is not limited to the Tour de France. The Italian brand is the jersey sponsor for all 27 races organised by the A.S.O. group:

History of jersey sponsors at the Tour

The role of the manufacturers (Santini, Castelli, Nike & Co.) As partnerships with the organiser A.S.O. (Amaury Sport Organisation) have changed over the years, various sportswear manufacturers have designed and produced the official leader’s jerseys for the Tour de France:

  • Le Coq Sportif (1951–1988 and again from 2012): This long-established French brand shaped the classic image of the Yellow Jersey for many decades.
  • Castelli (1989–1994): The Italian clothing manufacturer took over the production of the official leader’s jerseys in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
  • Giordana (1995): For a short time, another Italian brand took over the production of the jerseys.
  • Nike (1996–2011): The US sportswear giant shaped the look of the yellow jersey over a long period – including during Lance Armstrong’s record-breaking years.
  • Santini Cycling Wear (since 2022): The Italian cycling apparel specialist from Bergamo has, until now, been an official partner of A.S.O. and has been producing the Yellow Jersey and the other classification jerseys for the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes since 2022.
