With three contenders for the general classification, Ineos could once again be seen playing a more active role in the Tour

The dominant team of the 2010s has significantly strengthened its squad and is once again aiming for a place on the Tour de France podium.

Following their dominance in the 2010s, the British team has often flown under the radar at the Tour in recent years, even though experienced professionals such as Filippo Ganna and Michał Kwiatkowski have repeatedly brought the Ineos jersey back into the spotlight. Now the team is setting its sights firmly on the general classification once again and has no fewer than three trump cards up its sleeve. With new signing Oscar Onley, who finished fourth in the Tour in 2025, Ineos has a genuine chance of a podium finish. Kévin Vauquelin, also new to the team and seventh overall last year, and Thymen Arensman, who finished twelfth in 2025, are two further young riders in the starting blocks, ready to prove themselves as Grand Tour specialists. They can also rely on expert leadership: Tour winner and cycling legend Geraint Thomas is now in the team car, where he makes the key decisions.

As a student of German and political science, the flawless amateur sportsman once decided to try his luck as a journalist. His passion for racing bikes led him straight to the TOUR editorial team as an intern, which has since become an affair of the heart that has lasted more than 30 years, 16 of them as editor-in-chief. As a - in his own words - "generalist in the cycling niche", he is interested in all topics relating to road bikes (and gravel bikes) and is still particularly enthusiastic about racing today. Highlights of his own career as a racing cyclist include taking part in the TOUR-Transalp, the odd everyman race and regular Alpine tours with friends.
