Aigle (dpa) - The 2021 Track Cycling World Championships have been awarded to Roubaix at short notice. This was announced by the UCI.

The title fights are to take place from 20 to 24 October at the Vélodrome Jean Stablinski. The World Championships were originally scheduled to take place from 13 to 17 October in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. However, this plan was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The last World Cup was held in Berlin at the end of February 2020, just before the outbreak of the pandemic. After that, the World Cup was moved back to the autumn months.
