The Road Cycling World Championships will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2028. This was decided by the UCI on the sidelines of the Super World Championships in Glasgow.

Track cycling world championships in Abu Dhabi too

This will be the third time the championships have been held in Asia after Utsunomiya/Japan (1990) and Doha (2016). Abu Dhabi was also awarded the contract for the 2029 Track Cycling World Championships.

Next year, the Road World Championships will take place in Zurich, before Africa takes its turn for the first time in 2025 with Rwanda. Montreal will follow in 2026, with the next multi-discipline World Championships planned for the French region of Haute-Savoie a year later.
