Eight-time track cycling world champion Lea Sophie Friedrich reached the sprint final at the World Championships in Glasgow, while team-mate Emma Hinze was eliminated in the semi-finals.
Friedrich confidently won both of her semi-final heats against the New Zealand keirin world champion Ellesse Andrews. In the final, Friedrich will now face Great Britain's Emma Finucane, who also beat Hinze in two heats.
World Cycling Championships 2023: Friedrich has fourth medal for sure
After gold in the team sprint and two bronze medals in the 500 metre time trial and keirin, Friedrich has now secured her fourth medal at the title fights in Scotland. Her ninth World Championship title of her career beckons against Finucane. At the same time, she would be the third woman after Anna Meares and Hinze to win world titles in all four short-time disciplines.
