The German team got off to a successful start in the road races at the 2023 World Cycling Championships in Glasgow.
Paul Fietzke from Cottbus won the silver medal in the junior category.
World Cycling Championships 2023 Glasgow: Fietzke sprints to second place
Behind the Danish solo winner Albert Philipsen, the 17-year-old won the sprint for second place against the Norwegian Felix Orn-Kristoff. Last year, Fietzke's compatriot Emil Herzog even won gold at the World Championships in Australia.
The highlight of the World Championships is the men's race over 271.1 kilometres on Sunday.
