Roubaix (dpa) - The German women's track cycling foursome has shown its strength at the start of the World Championships in Roubaix.
The quartet of Franziska Brauße, Lisa Brennauer, Mieke Kröger and Laura Süßemilch mastered the qualification in 4:13.082 minutes and took first place ahead of Italy, Great Britain and Ireland. The medals between the top nations will be decided on Thursday evening (from 18:25/Eurosport). The German men's quartet finished eighth in the preliminary round. The World Championships will be officially opened in the evening in northern France, with a total of three decisions on the programme on the opening day.
