The decision is made in the sprint on the first stage of the Giro in Italy. A Dutchwoman is unbeatable.
Lorena Wiebes has won the opening stage of the women's Giro d'Italia. The 27-year-old Dutch champion won in a sprint on the 139-kilometre stage from Cesenatico to Ravenna. Wiebes also took the overall leader's pink jersey. It was the Dutchwoman's sixth stage win in the Giro. The nine-day Tour of Italy ends on 7 June in Saluzzo.
