Canyon promises a gripping film documenting the new edition of the Tour de France for women in 2022: "Out in Front" impressively shows the milestones and obstacles on the way to this historic event.
The documentary film "Out in Front" is available on YouTube. Enjoy watching the film.
The documentary film gives an insight into the world of women's cycling - full of courage, solidarity and adrenaline rush. The documentary, directed by Emily Chappell, takes us on an emotional journey. Various former riders such as Denise Kelly and Marilyn Traut from Canada, Mariana Canins from Italy (two-time winner of the Tour de France Femmes), as well as current top riders such as Elise Chabbey, Kasia Niewiadoma, Pauliena Rooijakkers and Ronny Lauke from Canyon/SRAM Racing, tell a multi-layered story.
The title "Out in Front" stands for courageous female riders who rebel against existing conventions. The theme is illustrated both by the impressive performances of Canyon//SRAM Racing at the 2022 Tour de France Femmes (first place in the team classification and third place overall for Kasia Niewiadoma) and by the memories of Kelly, Trout and Canins, who share their experiences of women's cycling in the 1980s.
Emily Chappell, long-distance cyclist and author about the Tour de France Femme and the documentary film Out in Front:
As a child, I dreamed of riding in the Tour de France. I'll probably never compete myself, but finally standing at the side of the route and cheering on the women in the peloton feels like a dream come true. Out in Front shows that I'm not alone in this.
The film makes it clear that a new era in women's cycling was long overdue. The Tour de France Femmes 2022 was the first official Tour de France for women in over 30 years and a milestone for equality in cycling.
The Koblenz-based bike manufacturer Canyon not only produced the film, but is also a sponsor of women's teams and ambassadors and supports initiatives to promote women's cycling. By recognising and supporting female athletes, the younger generation in particular is shown that women have a firm place in the world of cycling.
