Former Tour fifth Aleksandr Vlasov is the captain and man for the overall classification, as the team announced. The Russian had dropped out of the Giro d'Italia due to corona and took a break from the Tour of France.
Kämna, who has already won a stage at the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia in the past, is hoping for a stage win. In May, the 26-year-old finished ninth overall in the Tour of Italy. Nico Denz, a two-time Giro stage winner, Jonas Koch and Ben Zwiehoff are three other German riders in the eight-man Bora-Hansgrohe squad.
The three-week Vuelta a Espana starts on Saturday with a team time trial in Barcelona. Tough climbs such as the Alto de L'Angliru, the Col d'Aubisque and the Col du Tourmalet await on the following stages. The race for overall victory is likely to be fiercely contested. In addition to last year's Belgian winner Remco Evenepoel, the Danish Tour champion Jonas Vingegaard and his team-mate Primoz Roglic will also be at the start line. The Slovenian Roglic has already won the Giro this year.
