What are the professional cyclists doing in cold Germany at the moment? Although the snow is still missing, many professional cyclists are currently lacing up their running shoes.

Can you also run as a cyclist or does that spoil your racing bike shape? Many amateur cyclists ask themselves this question. A look at the Strava training platform shows that professional cyclists are currently keen to lace up their running shoes. So running can't be that bad for your form.

Andre Greipel has already run 229 kilometres this year - he only completed an 18.1 kilometre run on 30 November. Morning run made. Colleague Emanuel Buchmann recently uploaded two runs over 10 kilometres and also Christian Knees was out and about in running shoes. He has just finished a Mountain run with 915 metres of altitude difference.

However, the following applies to all the professional cyclists mentioned: cycling kilometres are still the main focus. This also applies to John Degenkolb and Marcus Burghardtwho diligently collected kilometres. Burghardt had a slightly cosier time of it: he had just completed a training camp in South Africa. That's not too bad an alternative to running training in Germany.
