It could get muddy at the 2030 Winter Olympics - at least for cyclocross
New sports are always added to the programme at the Olympic Games. Cyclocross could be on the programme for the 2030 Winter Games. There are now new indications of this.

The topic has been under discussion for some time - now there are growing indications that cyclocross could become an Olympic sport for the first time in 2030. According to Sebastian Coe, President of the World Athletics Association, the chances are very good - work is even already underway on a possible route. He told The Guardian newspaper that cyclocross should also be part of the Winter Olympics.

Cyclocross and cross-country on the same course at the 2030 Olympics?

In 2030, the plan is for cross-country and cyclocross to take place on the same course. Coe is a member of the IOC's Olympic Programme Working Group, which is tasked with making proposals for redesigning the Games and also proposing new sports. His statement is therefore unlikely to have been taken out of thin air. However, the decision will not be made until next year. The 2030 Winter Games will take place at several venues in the French Alps.
