Cycling fans will once again be able to watch every stage of the Tour de France live and free of charge on television this year. The free TV channels ARD and Eurosport are planning an extensive programme for the tour, which starts in Bilbao on Saturday.
ARD has once again extended its live coverage on the first channel. Saarländischer Rundfunk is once again in charge. During the week, the programme is usually broadcast from 2.10 pm to 5.30 pm, with alternating starting times at weekends. Presenter is Michael Antwerpes, reporter Florian Naß. Ex-professional Fabian Wegmann acts as expert.
The start times are usually the same in the livestream and in the ARD media centre. Exceptions are the 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 15th stages. On these days, the livestream will start earlier. The team presentation on Thursday will be offered exclusively in the livestream from 6.30 pm. Stage summaries will be available daily on the "Sportschau" YouTube channel. In the ARD media centre, authors Uli Fritz and Ole Zeisler take a closer look at the "Tour myth" in the three-part documentary.
Eurosport will once again be fully involved in the 110th edition of the world's most important cycling tour, covering all 3400 kilometres. A total of 120 live broadcast hours are planned for the 21 stages.
The commentator is Karsten Migels, with former pros Jens Voigt and Bernhard Eisel at his side as experts. In the second week, two-time Tour stage winner Voigt will get on the TV motorbike, as he did at the Giro d'Italia. In "Jens on a bike", the 51-year-old accompanies the peloton up close via live cam. He will be replaced in the studio by Robert Bengsch. The paid streaming service DAZN shows the Eurosport stream in full.
