On the twelfth stage between Olvega and Zaragoza, the 24-year-old sprinter crossed the finish line in second place after a bunch sprint. The Colombian Juan Sebastián Molano took the stage win. Dutchman Boy van Poppel finished third. The best German rider was Kim Heiduk in 17th place.
As expected, there were no changes at the top of the overall standings. The US-American Sepp Kuss defended the red jersey of the overall leader. Second is the Spaniard Marc Soler with a gap of 26 seconds. Belgian superstar Remco Evenepoel is in third place. The team-mate of Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard is 69 seconds behind Kuss.
On Friday, the pros can expect a difficult climb up the legendary Col du Tourmalet at an altitude of 2115 metres. This is the first time that the mountain finish in the French Pyrenees, which is primarily known from the Tour de France, has been part of the Spanish tour. The sixth stage of the Tour had led over the Tourmalet in July. The Slovenian superstar Tadej Pogacar took the stage win in Cauterets-Cambasque.
