The Tour de France can be enjoyed despite all the exertions - as proven by classics specialist Benoit Cosnefroy, who parties with his fans during the difficult mountain stage on Saturday.

The Tour de France is an ordeal that can apparently also be turned into a party. That's what Benoit Cosnefroy apparently thought on the 14th stage when he was welcomed by his fan club at the foot of the enormously difficult climb to the Col de Joux Plane. A video of what was probably the most incredible party of this year's Tour was shared on Twitter.

When Cosnefroy saw his singing fan club, he got off his bike and apparently took a sip of beer next to a Bengal torch. The Frenchman then hugged a few fans and lifted his bike into the air before hopping across the tarmac with his supporters, singing exuberantly.

The fan club called FCC supports both Cosnefroy and his AG2R team-mate Aurélien Paret-Peintre, who was born in Annemasse, the start town of stage 14. "We're here with the FCC and a few friends. We've invited everyone to have a shot at the bar, eat something and have a good time," Cosnefroy's wife Margaux told France 2. Paret-Peintre's girlfriend Clara also proudly pointed out that they had been painting the road all night long.

Cosnefroy continued the stage after the party break. The 27-year-old reached the finish in a group with Paret-Peintre 37:29 minutes behind the Spanish stage winner Carlos Rodriguez. In the overall standings, the classics specialist is already more than three hours behind leader Jonas Vingegaard in 102nd place.
