Sölden (dpa) - Former professional cyclist Jan Ullrich finished eleventh in the Ötztal Marathon in Austria over 238 kilometres and 5500 metres of altitude.

The "World Championship of Hobby Cyclists" was won by the Italian Roberto Cunico in 7:13:06 hours and was only twelve seconds faster than the second-placed Jörg Ludewig. The Westphalian from Halle rode together with Ullrich in the T-Mobile team for a year in 2006.

Ullrich's two-year doping ban for his collaboration with doping doctor Eufemiano Fuentes expired last Thursday. However, it has since been proven that the only German Tour de France winner did not only dope with Fuentes' help in the 2000s. Subsequently analysed urine samples from the 1998 Tour exposed Ullrich as an EPO doper. However, the former superstar of the scene has yet to make a full confession.
