For the fourth time in a row, the SD Worx - Protime team has secured the top spot in the world rankings at the end of the season. With the exception of the 2020 season, when Trek won the team classification, the Dutch team has been the non plus ultra in women's cycling since 2016 - back then still under the name Boels Dolmans.
In total, the team's eight best riders - Lotte Kopecky, Demi Vollering, Lorena Wiebes, Mischa Bredewold, Niamh Fisher-Black, Christine Majerus, Blanka Vas and Marlen Reusser - collected 19,501.45 points, almost the same total as last year, when there were 70 more. The first runner-up, Lidl-Trek, scored 12,871.9 points, around 3,500 more than in 2023, meaning that although the gap to the leader has shrunk, it is still huge.
As in the previous year, the two German teams in the Women's World Tour ranks are once again well represented and were able to improve once again. Canyon//SRAM Racing defended third place in the world rankings, adding around 400 more points with 9511 points. Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling even managed to collect almost 2800 more points than in 2023 (now 6374.67), moving up from tenth to eighth place in the world rankings.
The team, which has only had a World Tour licence since this season, is placed even higher in the rankings according to the number of victories. Ceratizit even ranks second there. Only SD Worx won more often in 2024. The most victorious team by far has 63 wins to its name. Ceratizit has 20 victories. Lidl-Trek and Visma | Lease a Bike have 17. In this ranking, Canyon ranks second to last among all World Teams with only five victories in 2024; only Fenix-Deceuninck has won even less often (2).
The Dutch women are even more dominant than SD Worx in the world team rankings in the nation rankings. There has only been one winner since the ranking was introduced in 2009. However, Oranje's lead over the second-placed Italians has shrunk considerably. While the Dutch women with Demi Vollering, Lorena Wiebes, Marianne Vos, Karlijn Swinkels and Charlotte Kool - the best five riders from each country are counted - collected almost 500 points less than last year and now have 14,856.14 points, Italy with Elisa Longo Borghini, Elisa Balsamo, Chiara Consonni, Gaia Realini and Eleonora Gasparrini recorded an increase of 2,800 points and are now 3000 behind the leaders with 11,865.62 points.
Belgium remains in third place, while the biggest loser is Switzerland, who have dropped out of the top 10 from fourth place without Marlen Reusser's big points haul. Germany also suffered minor losses, losing 400 points and one place in the world rankings to Spain, thus finishing in the top 10. Liane Lippert, Antonia Niedermaier, Franziska Koch, Ricarda Bauernfeind and Hannah Ludwig collected a total of 3711.75 points.
The Germans were able to celebrate seven victories, which means 14th place in the list. With 95 victories in 2024, the Dutch are enthroned at the top. Italy in second place has 40 wins, followed by Belgium with 22.
