At the end of the 2025 cycling season, UAE Team Emirates - XRG is once again at the top of the UCI world rankings. The clear lead over the competition comes as a surprise, as the 20 best riders collected a total of 40,637 points under the leadership of the renewed Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar. This represents a new record and surpasses the previous year's result by 3000 points.
And this despite Team Visma | Lease a Bike's double success in the Grand Tours. With 22,876 points, the team is the second-best team of the season, but only has just over half of UAE's points. For the Dutch riders, who won the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España, this is 2000 points more than in 2024, but the gap to UAE is huge. Third place in the 2025 world rankings was secured this season by Team Lidl - Trek, who finished fourth in the previous calendar year.
While most teams only improved or dropped one place, Bahrain - Victorious was able to fight its way back into the top ten teams. Although the team only improved by just under 1400 points, it was able to make up seven positions. The big winner in 2025 is the XDS Astana team. Coming from 21st place, the Kazakh team made it to fourth place in the team classification, with an improvement of over 10,000 points.
But there are also clear losers in 2025, with Soudal Quick-Step having to make do with fifth place this season, compared to third last year. However, the Groupama - FDJ and Lotto teams have been hit particularly hard. Groupama finished tenth last year, but slipped to 18th place this year. Lotto, who are to merge with Intermarché - Wanty next season, also dropped from ninth to 23rd place.
Year on year, there are fewer and fewer of them. INEOS Grenadiers narrowly escaped the embarrassment of doing worse than the one-man team of Tadej Pogačar. The Slovenian season dominator collected 11,680 points alone and would have finished ninth in the world team rankings, just behind the British team (12,096 points). The best team with a Pro licence was Uno-X Mobility in eleventh place in the world rankings (10,816 points).
UAE Team Emirates - XRG 2025 also set a new record for victories. The men in the white jerseys cheered a total of 97 times. That is also almost twice as many as the second-best team. Soudal Quick-Step achieved 54 victories. Lidl - Trek landed in third place with 46 victories, while Team Visma | Lease a Bike came fourth with 40 wins. The best German team is Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe with 23 wins and 8th place, the same number of wins as the best ProTour teams. With Israel - Premier Tech, Uno-X Mobility and Team Solution Tech - Vini Fantini, three teams from the second division have managed to achieve as many victories.
For the sixth year in a row, Belgium leads the UCI's nation rankings with 17,986 points. However, with a lead of just under 800 points, it is closer than ever for the Benelux country. Denmark in particular has made up ground, with 17,191 points and second place in the ranking. The fact that it is so close between the two leaders is not only due to the almost 5,000 points that Denmark was able to gain compared to the previous year, but also to the loss of 6,500 points by the Belgians. Slovenia had to settle for third place instead of second, while Italy and France swapped places - Italy now in fourth and France in sixth. Great Britain improves from ninth to fifth place, while Spain drops from third place to tenth.
