German professional cyclist Pascal Ackermann sprinted to third place on the second stage of the UAE Tour.
After 176 kilometres from Hudayriyat Island to Abu Dhabi Breakwater, the rider from the Palatinate was only beaten by the victorious former world champion Mark Cavendish from Great Britain and Jasper Philipsen from Belgium.
Ackermann had only joined the UAE team for the first World Tour race of the season at short notice after Fernando Gaviria's positive corona test. In the overall standings, season opener winner Philipsen is in the lead.
