At the front is three-time Tour winner Tadej Pogačar. The 26-year-old Slovenian will be supported by a strong team featuring a mix of experienced rouleurs and strong climbers. Five riders who already supported Pogačar in his victory at the Critérium du Dauphiné at the beginning of June are also taking part in the Tour de France. These include the experienced Marc Soler and Nils Politt as well as Tim Wellens, Jhonatan Narváez and Pavel Sivakov. The line-up is completed by two climbers who finished fourth and sixth in last year's Tour: João Almeida and Adam Yates.

Tadej Pogačar with an outstanding season

After an outstanding season so far, Pogačar is heading into the 2025 Tour de France with confidence. The reigning world champion has already won the Tour of Flanders, Strade Bianche and most recently the Critérium du Dauphiné. "I'm delighted that the Tour is starting. I had an almost perfect preparation this year - everything went very smoothly, especially after a great altitude training camp with my team-mates," explained Pogačar in his team's press release. "The atmosphere in the team is fantastic at the moment, which gives me a lot of confidence." The Slovenian is expecting a high standard from all the top riders and anticipates an exciting race: "The first few days should be very exciting for the fans with some open, aggressive stages. The last week will then be very climbing-heavy with some iconic stages. It will be a big fight until Paris, but I'm ready to give it my all."

Strong support for Pogačar

UAE Team Emirates - XRG relies on a balanced team to provide Pogačar with the best possible support. João Almeida comes to the Tour in outstanding form after becoming the first rider since Bradley Wiggins in 2012 to win three of the "big seven" stage races in one season. The Portuguese rider triumphed at the Tour of the Basque Country, the Tour de Romandie and the Tour de Suisse. Adam Yates returns to the Tour de France after finishing sixth last year. The Brit won the opening stage in 2023 and wore the first yellow jersey. With Marc Soler and Nils Politt, the team also has two experienced professionals who can provide important support services.
