For cycling fans who train on a trainer, MyWhoosh offers a very special challenge. Javier Sola has been Tadej Pogačar’s personal trainer has developed training programmes in collaboration with the indoor cycling platform, which amateur cyclists can now follow. The platform works directly with Sola and the UAE Team Emirates-XRG performance team. The sessions use the same intervals and structures that Pogačar employs to achieve his racing successes. Any cyclist with a roller trainer can follow the plans themselves and push themselves to the limit just like the cycling star himself.
For many, this is likely to be a real incentive to push themselves even harder on the roller. Whilst the plans should be adapted to the individual’s training intensity, the volume remains high even then. At present, the Slovenian is leading the way in the Tour de France, had already built up a substantial lead over his rivals on the Col du Tourmalet. The Slovenian rider’s form has been clearly evident in the first few days of the race, though the long mountain stages are still to come.
Javier Sola plays a very special role as coach in the string of successes achieved by the high-flyer Pogačar. Through his guidance on training management, he ensures that Tadej Pogačar is in peak form at just the right time of the season.
The training plans available on MyWhoosh give amateur cyclists an insight into professional training methods and allow them to follow such a plan, at least in terms of structure. However, specific sessions that Tadej Pogačar personally undertakes remain under wraps. WorldTour teams treat such detailed preparation programmes as confidential information. The published plans show basic training structures, but not the star’s individually tailored special sessions.
