Cottbus (dpa) - Four-time track cycling world champion Maximilian Levy from Cottbus will have to undergo a third operation on his right collarbone in the foreseeable future.

The 26-year-old was able to leave the clinic for the time being after undergoing a second operation last week following his serious crash at the Track Cycling World Championships at the end of February. An inserted titanium plate was removed in Birkenwerder/Brandenburg.

Levy broke his right collarbone in the keirin final at the World Championships in Cali and underwent surgery in Colombia. He is currently wearing a bandage to stabilise his upper body. A further operation is necessary to make the collarbone resilient again, explained head physician Karsten Labs from the clinic in Birkenwerder. It is currently unclear when the Cali World Championship silver medallist in the team sprint will be able to return to training.
