Five-time world champion Emma Hinze from Cottbus continues to ride in top form at the 135th German Track Cycling Championships in Kaarst-Büttgen and has won her third title.
After their successes in the team sprint and time trial the 24-year-old won the keirin final ahead of world and European champion Lea Sophie Friedrich (RSC Cottbus) and Alessa-Catriona Pröpster (RV Offenbach). Hinze has a fourth chance of winning the title in the sprint on Sunday.
Stefan Bötticher from Chemnitz won the men's sprint for the fourth time after 2011, 2012 and 2014. The former world champion came from 2:1 behind to beat 1000-metre champion and defending champion Maximilian Dörnbach (RSC Cottbus) in the final. Third place went to Marc Jurczyk (Turbine Erfurt).
