The German championships were originally planned for the beginning of July on the cycling track in Cologne-Müngersdorf, but had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. There is still no new date for the endurance disciplines on the track.
The German Cycling Federation (BDR) did not yet want to confirm the date. "The latest UCI safety regulations in particular need to be adapted," explained BDR Sports Director Patrick Moster. The championship has not yet been authorised. Uibel had previously expressed his confidence. "We are very pleased that we now have a little more planning security and will hopefully bring the summer season to a good conclusion," said Uibel. "It's about presenting ourselves with the best performance - especially for the athletes who missed out on the Olympic Games this year," continued the 61-year-old. Should the DM take place, the starting field will be led by Cottbus' Emma Hinze, who won the sprint, keirin and team sprint titles at this year's World Championships in Berlin.
