Road cycling world champion Julian Alaphilippe missed his second stage win at the Tour of the Basque Country by centimetres.
The 29-year-old Frenchman had to settle for second place behind the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez on the fourth stage over 185.6 kilometres from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Zamudio. Third place went to the Italian Diego Ulissi.
Vuelta champion Primoz Roglic successfully defended his lead in the overall standings. The Slovenian is still five seconds ahead of Belgian talent Remco Evenepoel.
