Sicherte sich mit 22 Jahren den Gesamtsieg bei der 77. Spanien-Rundfahrt: Remco Evenepoel.
Belgian professional cyclist Remco Evenepoel has won the Tour of Spain for the first time in his career.

First Belgian Grand Tour victory in 44 years

The 22-year-old took the overall victory on the final 21st stage in Spain's capital Madrid. Evenepoel beat the Spaniard Enric Mas by 2:02 minutes. His 19-year-old compatriot Juan Ayuso finished third, 4:57 minutes behind. This makes Evenepoel the first Belgian in 44 years to win one of the three major national tours.

After 96.7 kilometres, the Colombian Juan Sebastián Molano took the day's victory in a sprint ahead of the Danish former world champion Mads Pedersen. Pascal Ackermann from the Palatinate, for whom the day's winner Molano was supposed to start the sprint, finished third in the day's classification and ended the 77th Tour of Spain without a stage win.
