This year's Deutschland Tour will feature a prologue, a mountain finish and a total of 710 kilometres of racing.
The cycle tour starts on 24 August with a 2.7-kilometre individual time trial in Weimar and ends four days later in Stuttgart. The highlight of the race is the mountain finish on the third stage to Schauinsland in the Black Forest, 1200 metres above sea level. With a total of 11,000 metres in altitude, the tour is significantly more challenging than its previous editions, as was revealed at the route presentation in Frankfurt/Main.
After the prologue in Weimar, the first stage in Thuringia leads to Meiningen. The second stage ends in Marburg, Hesse, before heading towards the Black Forest and finally to the finale in Stuttgart. Last year, the Cologne-based professional cyclist Nils Politt won the tour.
The Deutschland Tour was reintroduced in 2018 after a ten-year break. The race is part of the Tour organisation ASO.
