Cycling fans will once again be able to watch the Tour de France free of charge on various TV channels this year. ARD has concluded a new contract with the cycling organiser Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) via the sports rights agency SportA.
According to its own information, Das Erste is planning daily live coverage of the world's biggest cycling race from 1 to 24 July, usually from 4.05 pm to 5.25 pm. The complete stages will be shown on the special interest channel One, on "sportschau.de" and on Eurosport. The free-to-air sports broadcaster has a Tour contract with the ASO that runs until 2025.
ARD has also acquired livestreaming and post-production rights for the women's Tour de France from 24 to 31 July, according to a statement. In addition, the Tour of Germany will be broadcast alternately with ZDF from 24 to 28 August.
