The Tour de Suisse Women 2025 enters its decisive phase with the third stage. On Saturday, 14 June 2025, the route will cover 123.1 kilometres from Campus Sursee to Küssnacht. Although the riders have to conquer 1225 metres of elevation gain, the stage is officially classified as a flat stage. This gives the sprinters in the peloton a good opportunity to position themselves in the battle for the stage win.
The route of the third stage takes the riders through a varied and scenic area of Central Switzerland. From the start in Campus Sursee, the route first heads towards Lake Hallwil. There you will see the enchanting Hallwyl moated castle and the over 100-year-old shipping company. The route then continues to Lake Aegeri. This historic location, on whose shores the Battle of Morgarten took place in 1315, is nestled in a hilly moraine landscape. The route then passes the famous Goldau Nature and Animal Park.
The finish of the stage is in Küssnacht against the backdrop of the picturesque lakeside promenade. A perfect view over Lake Lucerne awaits the riders and spectators here. The lakeside promenade is a popular photo spot and provides an impressive backdrop for the end of the stage.
The third stage could play a decisive role in the further course of the Tour de Suisse Women 2025. As the penultimate stage of the four-day tour, it offers the sprinters one of the few chances for a stage win. At the same time, the favourites for the overall standings will have to be vigilant to avoid losing valuable time.
Despite being classified as a flat stage, the third stage presents the riders and their teams with a number of challenges. The 1225 metres of elevation gain that have to be mastered can certainly influence the course of the race. Especially in the second half of the stage, the 4.5 kilometre climb to Unteragen with an average gradient of 4.2 per cent could lead to a selection in the field. The sprinters' teams will have to control the race and neutralise potential breakaway attempts.
